I’ve lived in Bierton for many years, but didn’t always feel a part of the community and wanted to do something to get people together and when Mark suggested an events group, I was keen to get involved. I’ve really enjoyed being part of the events group, we’re a friendly and supportive group and it’s brilliant to look back on some of the events we’ve arranged including the Santa Sleigh through the village last December, quiz evenings, the Easter egg trail and running events. It’s nice to do something positive, that doesn’t just get people together, but also raises funds for deserving local or national charities.
I have lived in Bierton since 2015 having moved from North London where I had lived all my life. I really enjoy living in the village and wanted to get involved in community matters, so after becoming a Parish Councillor in 2017, I saw the creation of an events group ad a great way of helping to organise events for the whole community as well as raising money for local and national charities. The group has always been friendly and welcoming and it is great to see the support we receive for the events from local residents. As a keen runner, the growth of the running event has been fantastic to see, but a personal highlight was the Santa Sleigh whereby so many local residents volunteered to help put it together, all in the middle of a pandemic and really put on a memorable event at Christmastime.
